Prevention Resource Center - Region 8
REGIONVIIIThe Prevention Resource Center - Region 8(PRC) serves as a clearinghouse, offering brochures, pamphlets, bookmarks, posters and other information relating to drug education and prevention. It is designated by the State of Texas as the source of prevention information for 28 counties stretching from Victoria to Del Rio. The Council's PRC is the model for the State and operates a lending library as well as providing prevention training and resources to teachers, students, health and human services professionals, parents, children, civic groups and interested citizens. The PRC distributes information and presentations for over 65,000 persons each year, and provides tobacco compliance education to over 1,200 businesses.
Library - PRC Library has a lending library that includes DVDs, videos and books with a variety of topics about prevention and today's current issues and trends that are prevalent in our communities. Materials can be checked out for up to two weeks.
Clearinghouse - PRC serves as a clearinghouse for FREE brochures, pamphlets, bookmarks, posters and information relating to alcohol, tobacco, drugs and educational prevention resources promoting self care. Materials and resources are age appropriate and many are available in both English and Spanish.
Prevention Training - PRC coordinates and facilitates access to regional trainings for the Texas Department of State Health Services funded programs. The PRC also provides information related to state, national and international training opportunities. The PRC is designed to provide communities with local, state and national resources in the area of substance abuse and prevention.
